Six schools from three classifications have one thing in mind for Thursday's Siuslaw Icebreaker track and field meet at Hans Petersen Memorial Field.

The six are 2A Bandon and Myrtle Point, 3A Douglas and Taft and 4A Cottage Grove and host Siuslaw.

All want to get off to hot starts in the short season that leads to state championship glory at the newly renovated Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene.

Field events start at 4 p.m., track at 4:30 p.m.

The boys pole vault may be of special interest, with the event a possible preview of next week's first Florence Street Vault on Bay Street.

Bandon senior Hunter Angove went 13 feet, 6 inches Tuesday at the 23rd annual Crusader Relays in Medford.

Only Marshfield junior Trent Summers, who went 14 feet on March 11, has gone higher this spring.

The Vikings feature two 13-foot jumpers, senior Camp Lacouture and Kyle Hughes.

• BOYS TRIPLE JUMP (GIRLS 30 minutes after)--East Pit
