Siuslaw senior Beau Erickson was a beast at bat Friday and the Vikings baseball team is back in the win column.

Erickson scored the winning run on a passed ball in the top of the seventh as the Vikings rallied for a 5-4 victory over Elmira-Triangle Lake in the nightcap of a Sky-Em League doubleheader at Elmira.

The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak for Siuslaw, 6-9 overall and 1-4 in league.

Elmira-Triangle Lake (8-6, 3-2) won the opener, 9-3.

Next up for the Vikings is a game at Marshfield on Tuesday and a doubleheader at home with Marist on Friday.

"Beau had an amazing offensive day," Siuslaw coach Tom Shinn said. "He was 6-for-8, with a double in each game, and scored five of our eight runs."

Batting leadoff, Erickson scored two of the Vikings' three runs in the opener and three of their five runs in the nightcap.

Erickson's go-ahead run in the nightcap capped a two-run, two-out rally for the Vikings, who trailed 4-1 after five innings. Siuslaw had closed the gap to 4-3 with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth.

Senior Isaac Garza pitched two perfect innings in relief for the win, striking our four of the six batters he faced.

Erickson hurled an effective five innings, striking our 10. Only two of the four runs scored against him were earned.

In the opener, Troy Anderson belted a grand slam in the bottom of fourth inning, breaking a 2-2 tie, and powering the Falcons to victory.

Siuslaw and Elmira are both leaving the 4A Sky-Em League next school year to join the 3A Mountain Valley Conference.
