The Siuslaw Vikings will enjoy some home cooking as they near the home stretch of the 2022 baseball season.

Six of the Vikings' final seven regular-season games are scheduled for Jiggs Dodson Stadium, including a doubleheader at 3 p.m. today against Cottage Grove.

The Vikings fell to 6-12 overall and 1-7 in the Sky-Em League on Tuesday following a 10-1 loss at Junction City.

Siuslaw slipped a notch to No. 20 in the OSAA Class 4A rankings, but remains in the mix for a play-in game in the 4A playoffs in two weeks.

The Vikings have three games this week with Cottage Grove, which is 2-17 overall and 0-9 in league. The Lions lost 13-0 Tuesday at Elmira.

After today's twin bill, the Vikings visit Cottage Grove on Friday, then return home next week for four home games, Monday against Marist, Tuesday against Elmira-Triangle Lake and a Friday doubleheader with Marshfield.

Tuesday, the Tigers of Junction City collected a dozen hits off a half-dozen Vikings pitchers over six innings for the win.

Tigers senior right-hander Chris Ohman pitched a complete game, scattering eight hits and striking out seven.

Senior Beau Erickson singled home freshman Joel Sissel in the top of the third inning for the Vikings' lone run. Sissel and senior Isaac Garza were each 2-for-3 in the game.
