Siuslaw freshman Ryan Klampe is the OSAA 4A Special District 3 boys individual golf champion.
Klampe shot an 8-over-par 80 Friday to win medalist honors by 13 strokes at the district tournament at Eagle Point Golf Course, just north of Medford.
North Valley was team champion with a two-day, 36-hole total 756. Henley scored 797, Mazama 819, Klamath Union 840, Phoenix 847 and Siuslaw 944. Hidden Valley had an incomplete team.
Klampe had a two-day total of 74-80—154, shooting nines of 37 and 43 on Friday. He shot 34-40—74 on Thursday.
Siuslaw senior Kayden Lane shot 124-114—238, senior Zion Jones 144-120—264 and sophomore Talin Loomis 150-138—288 as the Vikings improved their first-day score by 40 strokes despite rough conditions Friday.
"Good thing I have a buttoned-down shirt, or I'd be bursting, I am so proud of this team," Siuslaw coach Chuck Johnson said. "Such great kids to travel with, such gentlemen."
The top five individuals qualify for state, including Klampe; Cruz Kilborn, North Valley, 81-86—167; Keola Brown, Phoenix, 85-95—180; Isaac Barnes, Klamath Union, 86-95—181, and Shane Settle, Mazama, 91-93—184.
