The Siuslaw Vikings are second in the boys standings and fifth in the girls standings after the first day of the two-day Sky-Em League district track and field championships at Junction City.

Marshfield leads the boys with 47 points and the girls with 53.

The Siuslaw boys have 41, Cottage Grove 28, Elmira and Marist 15 each and Junction City 10 through four of 17 events.

The Junction City girls have 48, Cottage Grove and Marist 41 each, Siuslaw 25 and Elmira 23 through six of 17 events.

All other finals are Saturday.

Two Vikings won district titles Friday, junior Jonathan Rose in the boys' shot put at 42 feet, 7.25 inches and senior Rylee Colton in the girls' 3,000 meters with a personal-record time of 10 minutes, 44.17a seconds.

Junior Samuel Ulrich qualified for state with a second-place finish in the 3,000, while Chad Hughes was third and could qualify as a wild card depending on other district results.

Senior Camp Lacouture went 13-10 in the pole vault for third place and junior Kyle Hughes 13-4 for fifth, both clearing the state-qualifying standard of 13-4.

The OSAA Class 4A state meet is next week at Hayward Field in Eugene.
