Siuslaw's Ryan Klampe sixth at state meet

Ryan Klampe has put Siuslaw Vikings golf back on the state map after a half decade in the wilderness. 

The Siuslaw freshman fired a 3-over-par 75 Tuesday for a sixth-place finish in the OSAA Class 4A boys golf championships at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks.

Klampe had a two-day, 36-hole total of 79-75—154, 10-over par on the par 72, 6,359-yard course.

Tillamook junior Elliot Lee shot a 4-over-par 73-75—148 for the individual title. Host Banks won the team title by three strokes over Valley Catholic and Baker/Powder Valley.

Woodburn junior Ty Beyer was second at 150 and Seaside senior Carson Kawasoe third at 151.

Baker/Powder Valley freshman Isaiah Jones shared fourth place with Banks senior Aaron Brown at 152.

Klampe shared sixth with Molalla freshman Massimo Cereghino. A total of 58 golfers competed.

Klampe shot par on 15 of 18 holes Tuesday, including the first 11 holes. He had bogeys on No. 12, No. 13 and No. 16 on the back nine.

Klampe won the district title by 13 strokes to qualify for the state meet.
