Siuslaw girls golf tops 4A/3A/2A/1A in GPA


The Siuslaw Vikings girls golf team is a No. 1-ranked All-Academic team this spring, topping OSAA 4A/3A/2A/1A schools with a 3.89 grade point average.

North Valley was No. 2 at 3.88 and Baker/Powder Valley No. 3 at 3.85. Grant topped 6A schools at 3.97 and Wilsonville 5A schools with a 3.89.

The Vikings' boys and girls track and field teams, band and choir also received top-10 recognition.

The Siuslaw girls track and field team was No. 4 with a 3.75 GPA. North Marion was No. 1 at 3.95, followed by Molalla at 3.85 and Baker at 3.76.

The Siuslaw boys track and field team was No. 6 with a 3.52 GPA. Valley Catholic was No. 1 at 3.77, followed by Philomath at 3.70, Cottage Grove 3.66, Marist 3.58 and Molalla 3.56.

Both the Siuslaw band and the choir were No. 4 in state, the band with a 3.41 GPA and the choir with a 3.17 GPA.

The Siuslaw softball (3.29) and baseball (3.00) teams were honored for achieving a 3.00 GPA or better.

The Oregon School Activities Association Academic All-State program is sponsored by OnPoint Community Credit Union.

Siuslaw will receive a plaque in honor of its girls golf team, and each member of the team receives a commemorative decal and a certificate.
