Ten Siuslaw Vikings track and field athletes — nine males and one female — earned all-state honors last weekend at the Oregon School Activities Association Class 4A state championships in Eugene.

Juniors Hunter Petterson (200, 400) and Samuel Ulrich (800, 3,000) were second team in two events each, and both were members of the 4x400 relay team that earned honorable mention.

Seniors Chad Hughes (3,000) and Camp Lacouture (pole vault) and juniors Noel Hernandez (300 hurdles), Jonathan Rose (discus) and Kyle Hughes (pole vault) were third team.

Chad Hughes also was honorable mention in the 1,500, while freshman Wesley Nicholls and junior Jacob Blankenship were honorable mention as members of the 4x400 relay team.

Lady Vikings senior Rylee Colton was honorable mention in the 3,000.

All-star honors are earned on the field, not voted on by coaches, with first team to those finishing first or second in an event; second team to those finishing third or fourth; third team to those finishing fifth or sixth, and honorable mention to those finishing seventh or eighth.
