Former Siuslaw Vikings volleyball standout Makenzie York will open her junior season at Western Oregon in Hawaii.

The Lady Wolves will play in the Magic Island Classic in Honolulu Aug. 26-27.

WOU plays Hawaii Pacific and San Francisco State on Aug. 26 and Hawaii-Hilo and Stanislaus State on Aug. 27.

The Lady Wolves play in the Saint Martin's Labor Day Tournament Sept. 1-3 in Lacey, Wash., before hosting Alaska-Fairbanks Sept. 8 in their Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener.

York has been a starter since she entered WOU as a true freshman in 2019. She scored 79 points for the Lady Wolves last season before an injury cut her season short.

A middle blocker-opposite, York was second in blocks on the team with 46 despite playing just 12 of 25 matches.

York was a four-time all-league player and two-time team captain at Siuslaw, graduating in 2019.
