The Siuslaw Vikings boys soccer team is on its own, after four seasons of fielding a coed team, two as an independent junior varsity and two as varsity.

And it will have the honors of hosting this school year's first home game, a match at 6 p.m. Thursday against Sweet Home at Hans Petersen Memorial Field.

Siuslaw will play six of seven home games at Hans Petersen Memorial Field, which feature lights and, most importantly, restrooms.

The Vikings will move from the 4A Sky-Em after two seasons to 3A/2A/1A Special District 3, featuring league matches with 1A Crosshill Christian, 2A Central Linn and East Linn Christian Academy and 3A Sisters, Santiam Christian/Kings Valley Charter, La Pine, Creswell, Pleasant Hill and Elmira.

The boys were 1-13 overall, 0-10 in the Sky-Em League in the fall of 2021, 2-7 both overall and in Sky-Em League play in the spring of 2021.

Four Vikings seniors are in their fourth seasons with the program — Yoskar De la Mora, Alex Goss, Noel Hernandez and Lucian Murphy.

The Vikings are coached by Londi Tomaro, assisted by Dan Langley, Nyra Campbell and Raymundo Brito-Gonzoles.
